The Operations Supervisor position, reporting to the Operations Superintendent, is primarily responsible for providing leadership and supervision for the personnel within the assigned crew and/or area.
The position is required to utilize a variety of leadership skills, abilities, and policies to support team performance while ensuring safe and reliable operation.
Crew size and schedule may vary, depending upon the specific assignment and business needs.
Specific responsibilities include:
Leading approximately 5 to 15 employees by providing direction and performance feedback on a consistent and ongoing basis.
The person selected for this role may be required to rotate to other supervisory areas and functions of the plant to expand their knowledge, leadership skills, and team building capabilities.
Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with plant standards, policies, and procedures to ensure the personal safety of everyone at CPO.
Optimize staffing schedules, maintenance activities, and ore quality to achieve customer targets.
Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance is maintained within the facility.
Establishing goals, objectives, and expectations to attain desired personal safety, process safety, environmental, quality, and production related targets.
Effectively communicate with Operations and Maintenance personnel, department heads, shift and trade supervisors, and other support groups to achieve facility goals.
Act as a vocal Safety leader within operations through actions, voice, hazard assessments, risk mitigation, work permit sign-on, etc.

Ensure compliance of operational documentation and periodic assessments, including operational shift change, production loss reporting, procedural review compliance, housekeeping audits, etc.
Actively promote and cultivate a team environment.
Serve as a primary point of contact for Operations on various projects; including those related to incident reports, Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Corrective Action Plans (CAP’s) and Capital project needs.
Qualifications for the position include:
Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a chemical processing or heavy industrial setting.
Previous supervisory experience is favorable.
Be self-motivated and able to work independently.
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to provide sound coaching, conflict resolution, and team building skills.
Demonstrated ability to positively influence.
Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks concurrently with minimal oversight.
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; experience with SAP and J5 favorable.
